Oral health is strictly related to your overall well-being. Daily oral hygiene is the most important thing you can do, between regular visits to the dentist, to prevent decay, gum disease and bad breath. These are the simple daily steps for oral prevention:
•
Brush your teeth after each meal
The ideal toothbrush is usually a #35 with synthetic soft or medium brush, to be changed every three months.
Use a fluoride toothpaste and mouthrinse - fluoride is proven to help prevent cavities.
| STEP 01 |
• For the outer/inner tooth surfaces, place the toothbrush at a 45-degree angle toward the gumline.
• Use gentle, short wrist strokes, moving the brush from the gum to the tooth. |
| STEP 02 |
• To clean the chewing tooth surfaces brush orizontally back and forward. |
| STEP 03 |
• To clean the inner front tooth surfaces, hold the brush upright and use gentle up-and-down strokes with the tip of the brush, again from the gum to the tooth. |
| STEP 04 |
• Give your tongue a brushing.
It'll help keep your breath fresh! |
• How to use a power toothbrush?
| STEP 01 |
• Guide the brushhead slowly from tooth to tooth, following the curve of the gum and the shape of each tooth.
| STEP 02 |
• Hold the brushhead on each surfaces for few seconds and reach all areas.
• The whole process should last two minutes minimum. |
| STEP 03 |
• It isn't necessary to press hard or scrub.
Simply let the brush do all the work. |
• How should I floss?
If you don't floss, you're leaving as much as 40% of your tooth surfaces untouched and uncleaned.
| STEP 01 |
• Take about 18 inches (50cm) of floss and loosely wrap it around each middle finger leaving 2 inches (5cm) of floss in between. |
| STEP 02 |
• With your thumbs and index fingers holding the floss taut, gently slide it down between your teeth, while being careful not to snap it down on your gums. |
| STEP 03 |
• Curve the floss around each tooth in a "C" shape and gently move it up and down the sides of each tooth, including under the gumline. |
